Welcome!

Dear Reader:

I am proud to announce the first Objectivist summer conference to be held under the auspices of the Ayn Rand Institute—highlighted by three keynote lectures by Dr. Leonard Peikoff. Ayn Rand described Objectivism as a philosophy for “living on earth”—as the means of guiding one’s everyday, practical life. Objectivist conferences are an excellent way of learning more about the ideas that underlie Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged.

For nearly two decades, summer conferences have served as a forum for the presentation of new intellectual work applying Ayn Rand’s philosophy. Continuing in that vein, the Institute has invited a host of scholars and intellectuals, who are known for their serious interest in Objectivism, to present some of their recent work. As you’ll discover on the following pages, we have scheduled more than 27 hours of general lectures and up to 32 hours of optional courses on an exciting range of topics, from philosophy and sculpture to literature and economics.

The venue is the tranquil Pacific Palms Resort, in Industry Hills, California. With expansive views of the nearby San Gabriel Mountains, the resort is a short drive from the renowned beaches, theme parks, museums, shopping and restaurants of Los Angeles and Orange County. The hotel boasts two championship golf courses, 17 lighted tennis courts, an Olympic-size swimming pool—with a tropical waterfall—and an equestrian center with 15 miles of trails.

Each room is equipped with cable TV, wireless high-speed Internet access, coffee maker, mini bar and hair dryers—and a host of other conveniences, large and small, to serve your comfort.

Ayn Rand's books draw fans of every age, from every profession, from all over the world. Catch up with old friends or make new ones, who share your passion for Miss Rand's works.

Come spend one or two weeks in an environment of intellectual stimulation and physical comfort—in the company of people who share your values. We look forward to seeing you this summer!

Dr. Yaron Brook,
President and Executive Director
The Ayn Rand Institute
